EU lawmakers grill Commissioner Séjourné on withdrawal of SEP regulation

The legal affairs committee members asked how the commission intends to achieve its goals of increasing transparency in the SEP licensing market in the absence of a regulation. The commission executive vice president overseeing industry and internal market said that possibilities on how to address market problems are all "still on the table." The plan to withdraw the EU's draft regulation for standard essential patents comes in efforts to cut red tape in the EU, Executive Vice President Stéphane Séjourné, who oversees internal market and industry, told the European Parliament’s committee on legal affairs today....
