EU Customs Authority-hosting race led by Spain, France, Netherlands

By Oscar Pandiello ( April 23, 2025, 11:16 GMT | Insight) -- Spain, France and the Netherlands are leading the race to host the EU Customs Authority, the planned decentralized agency designed to streamline and coordinate customs operations across the EU. Spain was the first to pitch a bid among EU capitals, proposing Málaga as the agency’s seat. Although the customs overhaul is still in progress, the European Commission wants the EUCA to begin preparatory work as early as 2026.
