Japan’s Maxell Ltd. continues Samsung pile-on with new patent claims in Texas

By Melissa Ritti ( April 22, 2025, 17:34 GMT | Insight) -- Weeks after Samsung secured a partial stay of a 2023 patent infringement lawsuit by Maxell involving seven patents, and in the midst of the Maxell-initiated investigation of Samsung by the US International Trade Commission which prompted that stay, Maxell has launched fresh infringement allegations against the Korean consumer electronics manufacturer. In a complaint filed yesterday, Maxell accused Samsung of infringing nine patents. Outside the US, Maxell is also wielding its portfolio against its rival in three cases before the EU's Unified Patent Court and in four separate infringement actions in the Tokyo District Courts. Maxell Ltd. is upping the ante in its global fight with Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd....
