China's MIIT names 52 Apps, SDKS for data-privacy violations

( April 22, 2025, 04:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a list of 52 apps and software-development kits, or SDKs, accused of infringing personal-data rights, as part of a broad data-protection drive. The review found that services — including satellite navigation, healthcare, online games, advertising and image recognition — were collecting excessive data, forcing permissions, or using information windows that couldn't be closed. Authorities ordered the companies to correct these issues. Separately, the Ministry of Public Security identified 67 apps engaged in illegal personal-data collection and use.
