NCAA, class plaintiffs address issues raised by US judge in NIL case

( April 14, 2025, 18:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The National Collegiate Athletic Association and class plaintiffs suing the organization urged a  California federal judge to grant final approval of their agreement that would settle litigation over NCAA policies that prevented college athletes from monetizing their names, images and likenesses. In a joint supplemental brief, the parties told US Senior District Judge Claudia Wilken that while they "continue to stand by the Settlement Agreement as it was presented to the Court, we have carefully re-evaluated it in light of the Court’s comments and questions, as well as the points raised by objectors, at the Final Approval Hearing." They said they "have addressed some" of the points Wilken identified, "but not all," and explained their approach in the brief. "These revisions further confirm what over 99.9% of the class members have apparently realized — the Settlement Agreement is fair and reasonable, and should be approved so that its benefits can fully flow to the classes," the parties said. Joint supplemental brief attached. ...
