US DOJ remedy proposal in Google search monopoly suit not 'radical,' DuckDuckGo says

( April 18, 2025, 16:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: DuckDuckGo said that Google's decade-plus illegal monopolization of the Internet search market and search text market means that the smaller search engine has never had the opportunity to compete on a level playing field. "The outcome of the remedy trial can change that," Kamyl Bazbaz, senior vice president for public affairs at DuckDuckGo said in a statement. "The government has put forward a proposal that would free the search market from Google's illegal grip and unleash a new era of innovation, investment, and competition. Each part is necessary, but not sufficient on its own. There's nothing 'radical' about this proposal: it's firmly based on the court's extensive findings of fact, commensurate with the extraordinary impact of years of unlawful conduct and in line with previous antitrust actions," the statement said.
