US Federal Circuit, in case of first impression, tackles machine learning patents

( April 18, 2025, 16:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: In a precedential decision they said is one of first impression, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit declared "patents that do no more than claim the application of generic machine learning to new data environments, without disclosing improvements to the machine learning models to be applied, are patent ineligible" under Section 101 of The Patent Act. The ruling leaves in place dismissal by a Delaware federal judge of allegations Fox Corp., Fox Broadcasting Company, LLC, and Fox Sports Productions, LLC infringe four Recentive Analytics patents.See attached document....
