China rejects UK drone data concerns, calls for improved bilateral relations

( April 18, 2025, 09:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China has never requested, nor will it ever request, companies to collect or store data unlawfully, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian. Lin made the remarks in response to a media inquiry about concerns from the UK government regarding British firms using Chinese-made drones to capture high-quality images of critical infrastructure sites in the UK. He dismissed the UK's suspicions as baseless and urged British authorities to refrain from the politicization of economic and trade issues and generalizing about security issues. Lin called for efforts to foster stable China-UK relations, rather than targeting Chinese tech companies without evidence.
