USPTO terminates Climate Change Mitigation Pilot program

( April 17, 2025, 14:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Patent and Trademark Office has officially terminated the Climate Change Mitigation Pilot program, after previously suspending the program in January. The program, implemented in 2023, accelerated the examination of patent applications for inventions that mitigate climate change. "Terminating the program allows us to dedicate our resources to reducing pendency across all applications, regardless of the technology to which the application is directed," the office said. The move follows a trend of the office rolling back special programs implemented under the previous administration, as it attempts to focus on "core" patent application pendency as a priority.See attached file....
