Posco receives corrective order from KFTC for 'greenwashing' of steel products

( April 17, 2025, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Posco has received a corrective order from the Korea Fair Trade Commission for "greenwashing" its steel products by marketing them as more eco-friendly than they actually are. The Korea Fair Trade Commission found that Posco made misleading advertising for its three steel brands – INNOVILT, e Autopos and Greenable – which gave customers the impression that the products are eco-friendly and sustainable. In fact, the brands were created to classify steel products based on their end-use, such as construction, wind-power plants and electric vehicles, according to the regulator. The KFTC determined that such practice could mislead customers and could even distort competition in the market, particularly because environmental certification increasingly influences purchasing decisions.
