US judge calls for jurisdictional discovery in Roku’s Frand suit

Access Advance, based in Massachusetts, operates a HEVC patent pool and is partially owned by Dolby.A Massachusetts federal judge yesterday gave Roku the go-ahead to depose corporate leaders of Dolby and Sun Patent Trust (SPT) in its lawsuit seeking Frand license terms for HEVC video encoding standard essential patents. The depositions will help Judge Richard Stearns evaluate the defendants’ motion to dismiss Roku’s suit for lack of jurisdiction....
