Nonpracticing entity beats Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet bid to stay US patent case

By Melissa Ritti ( April 16, 2025, 18:27 GMT | Insight) -- US Judge Rodney Gilstrap is keeping litigation over computer networking patents on track in Texas, this week denying a joint motion by Cisco, Palo Alto Network and Fortinet to stay the case while one of the three Croga Innovations patents-in-suit is scrutinized in an inter partes review by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. The order is inconsequential, now, to Palo Alto Network — in an order issued yesterday, Gilstrap dismissed the US-based cybersecurity multinational after it purportedly reached a settlement with the patent owner, a nonpracticing entity.A planned October 2025 US trial in Croga Innovations’ patent infringement case against Cisco and Fortinet will remain on the calendar of Judge Rodney Gilstrap of the US Eastern District of Texas, following his denial this week of a defense motion to stay....
