USPTO suspends ‘rocket docket’ expedited design patent applications

( April 14, 2025, 22:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Patent and Trademark Office announced that it will suspend the process for requesting an expedited design patent examination, nicknamed the “rocket docket.” Citing efforts to combat application fraud and reduce overall pendency, the office said the move is aimed to reduce erroneous micro entity certifications. Requests for the “rocket docket” have surged 560 percent in recent years, “caused in large part by fraudulent applications,” the office said.
