NCAA, US DOJ say student athlete can't seek injunction against NCAA transfer rule

( April 11, 2025, 17:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The National Collegiate Athletic Association and Department of Justice opposed a student athlete’s request for a temporary restraining order against the NCAA’s enforcement of its transfer eligibility rule, saying they’ve resolved the case, and the motion is too late. “The issue Beasley raises in his motion—gaining an additional season of competition—was never the subject of this litigation. Moreover, the consent orders ended this matter, and Beasley’s attempt to relitigate this case is far too late. Further, Beasley was in the unique position to fully understand the implications of his decision to play in the 2023-24 season, having litigated (and lost) a nearly identical case in California state court. Moreover, any purported emergency here is Beasley’s own making, as he could (and should) have raised these issues months ago,” they said.See attached files. ...
