Democratic FTC commissioners move for judgment in litigation over firing

( April 11, 2025, 17:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Counsel for Rebecca Kelly Slaughter and Alvaro Bedoya moved for an expedited summary judgment in a lawsuit against President Donald Trump challenging the administration's "improper attempt to fire them." “Both the [Federal Trade Commission Act] and Supreme Court precedent compel the conclusion that the President’s attempt to terminate plaintiffs is unlawful. The justifications offered in the President’s March 18 message are unconvincing and, in any event, cannot carry the day in this court, which is duty-bound to apply the binding precedent that has protected FTC Commissioners for nearly a century,” they argued.
