French artist’s use of Rolex brand infringes trademark, French court rules

The court found the artist’s use of “Rolex” signs in social media posts, a YouTube video and an exhibition exceeded fair artistic expression and could mislead the public into believing a commercial link existed.A French visual artist must cease using the Rolex brand name in his work, the high court in Paris ruled last week, finding that the use of certain “Rolex” signs infringed the Swiss watchmaker’s renowned trademark....
