US senators seek DOJ probe of Live Nation-Ticketmaster deal with Fanatics

( April 8, 2025, 12:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Senators Amy Klobuchar and Mike Lee wrote a letter to the Department of Justice expressing concern over a deal between Live Nation-Ticketmaster and Fanatics that would allow Ticketmaster to sell secondary tickets to sporting events through the Fanatics sports app. The deal raises antitrust concerns given Live Nation-Ticketmaster's history of anticompetitive conduct, and though the deal is not an acquisition, it appears that for Ticketmaster it "may have the effect of eliminating a potential rival in secondary sports ticket sales, expanding its ticketing network, and growing its moat through anticompetitive means," the letter said.
