US DOJ prohibits employees from participating in ABA events

( April 9, 2025, 22:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice will no longer use federal funds to pay for any employees to travel to or engageme with events organized by the American Bar Association,  Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a memo addressed to all employees. DOJ employees are also prohibited from speaking at, attending or participating in events hosted by the ABA when acting in their official capacities, the memo posted on the DOJ website said. The DOJ said the ABA filed a lawsuit against the US government "yet the Department continues to expend taxpayer dollars on ABA events, the ABA continues to use the participation of Department personnel to attract attendance to those events, and the ABA continues to use Department-engagement to legitimize positions it advances that are contrary to the federal government's policies."See attached document....
