HP says it reasonably relied on Wilus, Sisvel pool members’ US Frand commitments

By Melissa Ritti ( April 9, 2025, 18:15 GMT | Insight) -- In an amended answer and counterclaim filed yesterday in the US, HP continued to hammer Wilus Institute of Technology and Sisvel for alleged breaches of their duty to negotiate in good faith over fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory license terms to standard essential patents. The latest filing in the US Eastern District of Texas adds allegations of harm, in the form of lost profits and "uncertainty in business planning" that HP says it suffered when it relied on the counterclaim defendants to make good on their undertakings to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. HP retained its request for court-ordered Frand terms to a global license.HP is upping the ante in its defense of patent infringement allegations by the Wilus Institute of Technology....
