UPC confirms jurisdiction in Dainese-Alpinestars dispute

( April 8, 2025, 13:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Unified Patent Court has confirmed its jurisdiction over the dispute between sports equipment makers Dainese and Alpinestars — including issues related to the Spanish validation of the patents — as Alpinestars is domiciled in Italy. The Milan Local Division dismissed preliminary objections raised by Alpinestars, challenging the court's jurisdiction and the admissibility of the complaint. Alpinestars' request to extend the period for lodging the statement of defense was also denied. The case comes in a dispute filed by Dainese S.P.A against Alpinestars S.P.A, alleging infringement of its EP 4,072,364 and EP 3,498,117.See court document attached....
