South Korea AI developers now granted access to data on materials-discovery research

( April 8, 2025, 08:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s industry ministry agreed today with the science ministry to allow some three million datasets that it has accumulated from materials-discovery research activities to be used in artificial intelligence and data-based research projects. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said that it has accumulated the datasets from research activities on new chemical, metal, ceramic, and textile materials since 2020. Under the agreement with the Ministry of Science and ICT, data-based researchers and AI developers can now utilize the datasets within 10 data-safety zones located across the country, the industry ministry said.
