Character.ai, Google files replies to dismiss US case over teen suicide

( April 4, 2025, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Character.ai and Google filed replies in support of their motions to dismiss US claims alleging that the artificial intelligence company's chatbots initiated “abusive and sexual interactions” with a teen and encouraged him to take his own life. “Plaintiff offers a cavalcade of arguments why the First Amendment might not protect that speech, and even asks the court to be the first to hold that AI-generated speech is categorically unprotected.
