Broadcom set-top box settlement with South Korean regulator opens for public comment

( April 7, 2025, 04:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Broadcom's draft consent decree with South Korea's competition watchdog entered a 31-day public-comment period today, following allegations that the company required local set-top box manufacturers to exclusively use its chips. Under the proposed agreement, Broadcom will cease exclusive dealing practices, avoid penalizing customers who work with competitors and invest 13 billion won (about $8.9 million) in South Korea's semiconductor industry, according to the Korea Fair Trade Commission. The regulator said it will finalize the consent decree after reviewing stakeholder feedback through May 7 and deliberations by its commissioners. The statement, in Korean, is attached....
