Google moves to block CEO Pichai testimony at approaching US privacy trial

( April 4, 2025, 16:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google asked a federal judge to block a bid by plaintiffs to call CEO Sundar Pichai to testify in a trial this summer on the digital ads giant's tracking of mobile app activity. "Mr. Pichai has no tie to this case," Google told US District Judge Richard Seeborg in a motion to block Pichai's testimony. "Plaintiffs never deposed Mr. Pichai and abandoned their request for his custodial files. Yet as the trial date approaches, despite being unable to articulate what relevant and unique knowledge he has, they suddenly have decided to call him as a trial witness in a transparent attempt to obtain settlement leverage."
