Singapore says no retaliatory trade measures, but will seek other markets

( April 4, 2025, 06:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Singapore said it would not pursue counter measures or dispute resolution in response to the 10-percent reciprocal tariff announced by the US, but it will double down on efforts to uphold open and free trade among like-minded countries and seek opportunities for Singaporean businesses outside of the US. In a doorstop with reporters yesterday, Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, who is also the trade minister, said imposing retaliatory import duties would just add costs to Singapore's imports from the US, which will affect Singaporean consumers and businesses.
