Trump's tariff on cars take effect; car parts duties to apply on May 3

( April 3, 2025, 15:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A presidential proclamation published in the Federal Register affirmed that 25 percent tariffs on cars are now in effect, while the same rate of duties on automobile parts will be imposed on May 3. Car and car parts that are US-made and fall under the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement are exempt. The proclamation also specifies the tariff codes.
