Netflix denied fees in US defense against foreign ‘Tiger King’ copyright claims

Whyte Monkee Productions LLC’s complaint against Netflix over foreign streaming of "Tiger King" was dismissed last year on claim preclusion grounds, in view of an earlier-filed Oklahoma lawsuit over domestic streaming. The court stood by that determination yesterday, denying reconsideration, in addition to denying Netflix's request for $254,942.98 in fees.Both sides lost yesterday when a California federal judge denied reconsideration of his dismissal of copyright claims by Timothy Sepi and Whyte Monkee Productions as well as an award of attorneys’ fees sought by Netflix in connection with its successful defense in the case. ...
