Snap, Meta can't shield information because it's digital, murder suspect tells California Supreme Court

( March 28, 2025, 22:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Lawyers for murder suspect Adrian Pina told the California Supreme Court that Snap and Meta Platforms and their supporting amici filers have incorrectly interpreted the federal Stored Communications Act and incorrectly argue that the SCA shields them from complying with subpoenas for postings from the victim's social media accounts. That position, lawyers for Pina said,"taken to its logical conclusion would prevent disclosure of any document held in a cloud that would otherwise be subject to a subpoena if held in physical storage such as a safety deposit box. There is absolutely no heightened privacy right for information held virtually." p.p1 (margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 13.0px 'Century Schoolbook'; color: #000000)See attached document....
