Power generation from renewables hit record in 2024, EU report shows

( March 31, 2025, 14:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Renewable power generation increased significantly in 2024, with a record share of 47 percent of the power mix, while the share of fossil fuels fell to 28 percent, according to the European Commission's gas and electricity quarterly reports published today. Total EU gas imports were 6 percent lower last year when compared to 2023, the gas report says. Norway provided 33 percent of the EU's gas imports, followed by Russia and the US, the report shows.
