Nokia, Amazon strike patent deal, putting an end to global clash

( March 31, 2025, 11:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Nokia said today it has reached a license agreement with Amazon, which will extinguish the parties’ worldwide standard essential patent infringement litigation over video-streaming technology. Nokia filed suit against Amazon before the Unified Patent Court — and in German national courts in Munich and Mannheim — for infringing patents that Nokia had argued are essential to the H.265/HEVC video coding standard, successor to the H.264/AVC standard. The parties were also litigating in Brazil, the UK, India and in two separate District of Delaware cases, as well as before the US International Trade Commission, which issued an initial determination in favor of Nokia.The full statement from Nokia follows: ...
