South Koreans' exposure to AI, GenAI both jump in 2024, survey shows

( March 31, 2025, 08:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The exposure of South Koreans to one or more types of artificial intelligence products and services has continued to increase rapidly, with the latest survey finding that 60.3 percent of the country’s population had experience with AI, according to the Ministry of Science and ICT. The ratio was up from 50.8 percent in 2023 and 42.4 percent in 2022, according to the ministry’s survey of about 60,000 people in the fourth quarter of 2024. In the same survey, 33.3 percent of the respondents said they had experience using generative AI products or services in 2024, nearly double the 17.6 percent in 2023. Searching for information topped the list of the main purposes for using generative AI, followed by receiving help while working on documents, and translating foreign languages, the ministry said.
