Vietnam publishes amended draft implementing regulations for new data law

( March 26, 2025, 07:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Vietnam has published amended versions of draft implementing regulations for the new Law on Data that will take effect on July 1. The scope of “core data” and “important data” has been expanded in an amendment to the draft Prime Minister’s decision on data classifications. The amendments to the draft of the main implementing regulation also relax rules related to the cross-border transfer of data. For instance, companies that transfer employee data across borders for human resource management purposes are likely to be exempted from submitting a data transfer impact assessment, and transferors of "important data" will no longer need to wait for prior approval.
