The amendment aims to bolster legal responsibilities for cybersecurity and heighten penalties for violations. Regarding legal responsibilities for the security of network operations, new penalties have been introduced for consequences that severely harm network security. For network information security violations, the proposed maximum fine for entities is set to rise to 10 million yuan (approximately $1.38 million), and for individuals, up to 1 million yuan.
