Thai interagency group set up to enforce antitrust law against illegal foreign goods

( March 20, 2025, 04:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Trade Competition Commission of Thailand has been appointed to an interagency task force that aims to enforce the Trade Competition Act against unlawful foreign businesses flooding the country with cheap imported goods. Led by the commerce minister, the task force will target unregistered foreign businesses selling goods into Thailand and substandard imports. The competition agency has outlined two key measures to address the problem: implementing stricter trade and tax regulations to prevent unfair competition from foreign manufacturers and raising domestic product standards. It said it would address market distortion caused by low-quality Chinese imports by countering predatory pricing and monopolistic agreements. Legal action will be taken in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with trade laws. The statement from the regulator is attached....
