Virgin Australia-Qatar Airways codeshare arrangement approved by Australian regulator

( March 28, 2025, 00:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways have received an authorization from Australia’s competition watchdog for their codeshare arrangement on international flights. In a statement today, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that the airlines can engage in cooperative conduct for five years, “doubling the frequency of flights between Doha and major Australian airports.” The statement added that the regulator considers that the alliance will result in public benefits including adding additional capacity on flights between Australia and the Middle East and is likely to cause “minimal, if any, public detriment.” The airlines had received an interim authorization subject to an undertaking in November 2024.The full statement by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission follows:...
