Australian state court website faces data breach, 9,000 files compromised

( March 27, 2025, 00:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: An Australian state’s court website was involved in a major data breach resulting in the download of approximately 9,000 “sensitive court files,” the state police department said. In a statement published late on Wednesday night, the New South Wales Police Force said that cybercrime detectives are investigating a major data breach involving the New South Wales Department of Communities and Justice. The statement said that on March 25, the State Crime Command’s Cybercrime Squad were alerted to the data breach of the New South Wales Online Registry Website, which is used to provide access to information on both civil and criminal cases across the NSW court system. The statement said that the 9,000 downloaded court files including apprehended violence orders and affidavits.
