Redwood follows Broadcom complaints with new SEP cases against Realtek

Like its lawsuits against Broadcom Corp. earlier this year, Redwood again chose the Western District of Texas to litigate infringement of 14 patents declared standard-essential, after Realtek allegedly thrice refused delivery of a written request to open license negotiations. Those communications, Redwood says, satisfy its obligations to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers — of which Realtek is a member.Realtek Semiconductor Corp. was hit yesterday with allegations it stonewalled discussions on the need to hammer out reasonable and nondiscriminatory, or Rand, terms for 14 standard-essential patents, or SEPs, assigned to Redwood Technologies, a limited liability company owned by patent licensor Dominion Harbor....
