Influencers must follow consumer rules or face consequences, Irish watchdog warns

( March 26, 2025, 11:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Ireland's Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has said in its annual overview of enforcement actions that in 2024, five traders were prosecuted in court and 23 compliance notices were served on traders, including three to social media influencers. This marks the first time that influencers have been served with such notices for failing to disclose the commercial nature of their social media posts. Several probes are ongoing in relation to them and further results are expected this year. The CCPC also said it would continue to carry out regular surprise visits, reminding influencers that they need to follow the law or potentially face legal consequences.Statement follows. ...
