Pharma, railways top cartel investigations in India, minister says

( March 25, 2025, 07:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Indian pharmaceutical and railway industry topped the list of cartel investigations in the country over the last five years. The Competition Commission of India investigated a total of 35 cartel cases across various sectors over the last five financial years. Of these, the commission investigated five alleged pharma cartels and four in the railways sector as of March 13, 2025, said Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, in response to a question raised in the Lower House of Parliament on Monday. In its efforts to address cross-border cartelization, the commission has entered into bilateral and multilateral agreements and has signed memoranda of understanding with several countries and regions, the minister said.  The statement from the Minister of Corporate Affairs is attached....
