Merck asks US judge to provide benefit of settlement with Cardinal over Zetia

( March 24, 2025, 16:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Merck asked a US federal judge to indemnify it from US antitrust claims filed by Cardinal Health and United HealthCare in a case accusing it of entering into an illegal pay-for-delay agreement that kept a generic version of the cholesterol drug Zetia out of the market. Merck said that it litigated and settled claims brought by Cardinal in connection with the same antitrust allegations that UHS makes in its lawsuit. In exchange for a substantial sum of money, Cardinal not only released all its Zetia- and Vytorin-based claims against Merck but also promised to indemnify Merck for all claims Cardinal assigned to UHS.
