UBS, UniCredit, Nomura largely fail to overturn EU bond-cartel fines

( March 26, 2025, 09:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UBS, UniCredit and Nomura have largely lost their legal challenges to a European Commission decision finding that they colluded with other lenders on the market for European government bonds, the EU General Court said today. UBS saw its 172 million-euro fine confirmed, but judges reduced the fine on UniCredit by around 4 million euros, to 65 million euros. The fine on Nomura was also reduced by around 4 million euros, to 125.6 million euros. The judges found errors with the calculation of Nomura's fine, and shortened the length of UniCredit's participation. The court also said the commission "had an interest" in determining Bank of America and Natixis broke the law, even though they weren't fined.The statement and ruling in the following cases is attached:...
