Barco’s bid for preliminary injunction rejected by UPC over lack of urgency

The court confirmed its competence over the case and clarified the internal territorial competence of the UPC. Additionally, the ruling stated that the earliest point a UPC action can be filed is when a European patent is granted, rejecting the argument that registering the patent for unitary effect alone enables legal proceedings.The Unified Patent Court has dismissed web conferencing platform Barco’s request for a preliminary injunction against Chinese competitor Yealink, ruling that the Belgian technology company failed to demonstrate urgency in its patent infringement claim....
