EU-UK data adequacy renewal may still face hurdles

While the UK’s third attempt at a data reform has dropped some of its most controversial provisions, the recent deployment of another national law, the Investigatory Powers Act has raised concerns about the British data privacy framework.The UK’s efforts to renew its data adequacy status with the EU got some much-needed relief this week as the European Commission extended two data adequacy decisions, originally set to expire in June, until late December (see here). ...
