Indonesia antitrust agency urges stricter regulation of stock trading halts

( March 21, 2025, 03:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia’s capital markets regulator needs to impose stricter rules on trading halts to prevent large companies from exploiting them to acquire smaller firms, which could lead to increased market concentration or monopolistic practices, the Indonesian Competition Commission, or KPPU, said. The commission issued the statement after the Indonesia Stock Exchange temporarily suspended trading for about 30 minutes on March 18, following a 5 percent drop in the composite stock price index.
