Cleveland-Cliffs urges US judge not to expedite US Steel, Nippon Steel case

( March 18, 2025, 14:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Cleveland-Cliffs wrote a letter asking a US judge to refuse to expedite US Steel and Nippon Steel's antitrust claims against it. Given that the plaintiffs have entered into "ongoing discussions" with the government, possibly over a new transaction, Cleveland-Cliffs should not be held to an expedited schedule on claims that may soon become moot, the letter filed to the Western District of Pennsylvania said. "Cliffs should not be required to litigate this case on an expedited basis, and the Court should not be required to give this case priority for judicial resources, when Plaintiffs have abandoned the premise for expedition," the defendant said.
