On the one hand, the privacy regulator says the company’s indiscriminate use of facial-recognition technology violated shoppers’ right to privacy; on the other, Bunnings says it only collected the biometric data for 4.17 milliseconds and that it was all in the name of protecting the business from shoplifting and violent behavior.
