South Korea to support development of public-service AI systems

( March 18, 2025, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: As part of its efforts to foster the adoption of artificial intelligence in the public sector, the South Korean government has designated 10 public-service projects to develop AI systems. It will receive applications to undertake the projects, such as the development of AI systems to support fair subcontracting between companies or video-image analysis for the coast guard agency. Each successful applicant will be awarded 900 million won ($623,600) in financial support for two years to develop the systems for 10 government agencies, including the Korea Fair Trade Commission, the Korea Coast Guard and the Ministry of National Defense.
