US FCC's Skydance deal review, other media probes 'unprecedented,' Senator Blumenthal says

( March 13, 2025, 19:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Under US Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr's leadership, the FCC has launched probes into the Skydance-Paramount deal and various media companies that are both "unprecedented" and "intrusive" and based on "arbitrary and capricious pretenses," US Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut wrote in a letter to FCC officials. In a press release announcing the letter, Blumenthal, the ranking Democrat on the Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigation, announced "a new preliminary inquiry into the FCC’s apparent retaliatory actions against news organizations targeted by President Donald Trump."See attached document....
