Tencent tells California judge that WeChat arbitration terms must be enforced

( January 24, 2025, 18:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Tencent told a California state court judge that a decison by a California appeals court last year means that the trial court should find that WeChat users suing the company must settle their differences through arbitration. "The Court of Appeal’s holding is significant not only because it resolves the initial question whether Plaintiffs are bound to an arbitration agreement (they are), but also because it means that Plaintiffs can avoid that obligation only if they overcome the FAA’s strong presumption in favor of enforcing arbitration agreements," Tencent said in a court filing.See attached document....
