Japan's PPC and US FTC agree on continued cooperation on data protection, PPC says

( March 12, 2025, 10:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan and the US agreed to continue their bilateral cooperation after a recent meeting between an official from Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission and the Chairman of the US Federal Trade Commission Andrew N. Ferguson, and other officials, in Washington, DC.  Commissioner Yuji Asai and Ferguson discussed ways to balance privacy and innovation, along with other policy prospects, and agreed to build more fruitful cooperation between the two regulatory bodies. As co-chairs of a working group within the Group of Seven data protection and privacy regulators' round table, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration, the PPC said in a statement.
